The Tarhouna Victims Association condemned the release of "Adel Yakhlef" and his brother "Noureddine" by the authorities in the eastern region affiliated with Khalifa Haftar's forces.
The Association said that "the accused committed crimes of murder, enforced disappearance, arbitrary detention and torture against a number of victims." It explained that in December 2023 in the city of Sirte, the accused were arrested by the 166th Brigade affiliated with Haftar's forces.
It also confirmed that the accused confessed to committing dozens of crimes in a video clip published by the 166th Brigade on Facebook. It also reported that last August, the accused were released, adding that this happened "despite the crimes and serious violations they had committed, disregarding military and civil systems and laws, as well as morals."
