Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune confirmed on Monday in a meeting with the Italian Prime Minister, Georgia Meloni, that the positions of Italy and Algeria are identical on most international issues, including holding elections in Libya.

This statement came at the press conference at the end of Meloni's visit to Algeria after the signing of a number of cooperation agreements between the two countries in the fields of development, economy, energy and media, after which Tebboune indicated that Italy was a reliable partner for Algeria from a strategic point of view.

The two sides also discussed a number of regional and international issues, including the Western Sahara and the issue of the Mediterranean basin.
