An official at the desalination plant in Tobruk said that they had to reduce the amount of daily production of water to the half because of the lack of necessary chemical materials needed for operating the plant, noting that the station is almost out of supplies.

The official, who preferred not to disclose his identity, said in a press statement that the station workers are continuing work day and night to prevent the station from closing down completely, given that it is the only source of water in the city of Tobruk.

He pointed out that a shipment of chemicals is expected to arrive on September 23 to the port of Benghazi and will be dedicated to the desalination plants of Al-Marj, Derna, and Tobruk.
