The power station in southern Tripoli has ceased operations after the smoke of trash fire from a nearby landfill blocked the air filters in the stations, the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) has confirmed.

The company explained in a statement that the issue resulted in the loss of about 400 megawatts, increasing the deficit in the daily power output.

GECOL ensured that work is already underway to restore the output as soon as possible.
