Gharyan Municipal Council stated that it would begin a drive on Sunday to plant olive trees inside its city.

The council’s media office said in a statement to The Libya Observer that the campaign would be launched from the farm of Jendouba prison, in coordination with the agricultural sector in Gharyan, the prison administration and the Gharyan Security Directorate.

The campaign aims to plant an area of 37 hectares with olive trees throughout the year 2021, as Gharyan won second place in the Athens international competition for the highest quality of olive oil for the year 2020.
