Tripoli Eye Hospital has received the third batch of corneas, totalling 30, coinciding with the arrival of the consultant of refractive corneal surgeries, Prof. Tariq Katamesh to Libya.
The hospital’s management stated that 17 cases of corneal transplantation will be performed on patients from southern Libya, and 13 from the western mountain, noting that with these operations, the hospital would have performed 80 operations in less than two months.
Corneal transplant operations have been suspended in various cities of Libya for 10 years, according to the hospital’s management.
