The Tripoli Security Directorate has cautioned citizens to be wary of phone calls aimed at fraud or collection of information irregularly.

In an advisory on Facebook, the directorate warned citizens of being victims of scam calls that claim to be from banks, hospitals, or telecommunication companies.

It described such calls as unprofessional and said the individual on the line would hear a crowd noise in the background.

The directorate noted that such communications are usually set up via WhatsApp or Viber applications and that the caller does not speak Arabic well.
