US President Donald Trump has signed the continuation of the US national emergency in Libya for another year.

According to the executive order signed on February 20, the step comes to confront security threats that pose an unusual and exceptional threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States.

The extension also came amid deteriorating security in Libya and the increase in the number of refugees, which prompted the US administration to take measures to protect Libyan national assets, according to the extension document.
