The first edition of the Tunisia-Algeria-Libya cross-border hackathon kicked off on Thursday in the Tunisian capital, with the participation of 40 students and professors from the three countries.

The event aims to develop digital solutions for a circular economy and unite Maghreb talents to rethink production and consumption models.

According to a statement by the University of Tunis El Manar, the hackathon is part of efforts to strengthen academic cooperation and digital innovation in support of sustainable development.

The event runs on April 10 and 11 at the International Center for Trainer Training and Pedagogical Innovation.

Nine mixed teams consisting of Libyan, Tunisian, and Algerian students are working over the two days to design practical digital projects addressing current environmental challenges.

Participating Libyan universities include the University of Derna, the University of Tobruk, and the Open University of Libya. Other participating institutions include Tunisia’s Universities of Jendouba and Sousse, and from Algeria the Universities of Batna and Khenchela, as well as the Higher School of Management and Digital Economy.
