The deputy head of the Turkish intelligence service, Jamaluddin Chalik, confirmed on Thursday, his country's readiness to defend the capital, Tripoli, in the event of an attack, calling on all parties to reach consensus in order to hold the elections.

This came during his meeting in Tripoli with the head of the intelligence service of the Government of National Unity, Hussein Al-Aaeb and the most prominent military leaders in the western region, according to local media.

During the meeting, the Turkish official stressed that the security of the city of Tripoli is “a red line that no party is allowed to cross”, saying that they will deal with "any attacking party as an enemy”, based on the security and military agreement signed with the former Presidential Council.
