Turkey has expressed concern over the recent escalation of violence in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, and said it is ready to play a role in reaching a lasting and sustainable solution.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it was closely monitoring the situation in Tripoli and nearby areas.

Ankara called on all parties involved in the conflict to agree without delay to a full and permanent ceasefire and to engage in dialogue to resolve their differences.

The statement comes amid mounting international concern over renewed clashes between rival armed groups in the Libyan capital.
