The UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) reported the arrest of four individuals suspected of involvement in human trafficking across the Mediterranean to Europe. NCA said the arrest came in cooperation with Libyan authorities.

NCA explained that the arrests took place last March. One smuggler was apprehended in Tripoli for being involved in transporting hundreds of Syrian immigrants by boat, while another was arrested in Tobruk on suspicion of smuggling immigrants to Greece.

NCA added that Libyan authorities also arrested a Sudanese national in Sabratha, who was responsible for attempting to smuggle 11 Iraqi Kurdish immigrants. Additionally, a Syrian man believed to have facilitated the smuggling of 400 people was also detained.
