The UK embassy in Tripoli has expressed concern over the fresh clashes that broke out in Tripoli on Thursday, which left several casualties among civilians.

"Deeply concerning to see armed clashes today in Tripoli with civilian casualties," the embassy tweeted out on its official account on Friday.

It underscored the UK's rejection of the recent violence in Tripoli and called for "a calm return" to political dialogue, urging Libya’s leaders to put aside differences and agree on a basis for elections.
