Member of the High Council of State (HCS), Abdul Rahman Al-Shater said that the UN-backed National Conference to be held this year is viewed by most Libyans as the only lifeline, after the failure of all attempts to reach a consensus between the conflicting parties.

Al-Shater added in a statement that the country needs two firm wills; the determination of the Libyan people and the position of the international community represented in the Security Council, in order to make the road map work and curb foreign interventions, as he put it.
