The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Hanna Tetteh, has discussed during her meeting with the Minister of Local Government the challenges of decentralization in light of the current political situation in Libya.
During the meeting, the two sides stressed the essential role played by local government in the lives of citizens and in establishing stronger democratic governance, stressing at the same time the need to unify institutions to ensure the provision of better services.
Tetteh renewed the commitment of the United Nations Mission in Libya to support the efforts of Libyans to strengthen local governance and ensure fair access to services for all citizens.
