GECOL

The Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Stephanie Koury, has stressed the importance of maintaining the unity of the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL)

During talks with officials from the national power provider, Koury underscored the need for operational integrity, enhanced transparency, and good governance—calling for strong and independent oversight of the company’s activities.

In a statement shared via the UN Mission’s Facebook page, Koury praised the company’s efforts to ensure electricity supply across Libya, despite a decade of severe challenges.

She said the unification of national institutions was a fundamental pillar to ensure the continuity of public services and equitable access to essential services for all Libyans.
