The UN organization for refugees (UNHCR) has evacuated a group of 119 vulnerable asylum seekers out of Libya to Rwanda.

The group evacuated on Tuesday night, including men, women, and children were from Eritrea, Sudan, South Sudan, and Somalia, the organization said, noting that among them was a child less than one year old.

UNHCR said many of them had been detained in Tripoli for several months.

They will join another 269 refugees and asylum seekers at the Emergency Transit Mechanism (ETM) in Gashora, Rwanda, where they will receive assistance, including shelter, food, medical care, psycho-social support, activities for children, and language courses.
