UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called on Libyan officials to release illegal immigrants held in the country, especially women, pregnant women, families with children, single children and the disabled.

Guterres said that the UN mission in Libya had visited immigration detention centers In Tripoli, Gharyan, Misrata and Surman, describing their detention as arbitrarily and without granting them the right to object before the law.
