UN Secretary-General António Guterres said that the United Nations is working with its international partners to help stop the escalation of violence in Libya and encourage a return to the political process.

In his speech to the Security Council on peace and security in Africa, on Monday, Guterres, welcomed the enhanced cooperation with the African Union to establish peace in Libya.

"The repercussions of the Libyan crisis will cast a shadow on the entire region with the continued transit of arms and the influx of fighters to the country," Guterres said.
