The UN Security Council has extended the mandate of Operation IRINI, tasked with implementing the arms embargo on Libya, according to the French Permanent Mission to the United Nations.

Operation IRINI obtained the last renewal of its mission on June 5 last year, for a period of one year.

The operation said that it has investigated 3,344 crews of commercial ships in the Mediterranean, carried out 133 visits on ships, and conducted 14 boarding and inspection operations on suspected commercial ships since their launch in 2020.
