A spokesperson for the municipality of Sirte, Mohammed Al-Amil, announced Saturday that the United Nations Development Program has commenced in maintaining a number of schools in the municipality.

Al-Ameel added that the maintenance process includes 5 schools out of 12 agreed upon, explaining that the cost of the program amounted to 2.5 million dollars.

He said that the municipality received the first compactor truck for dumping garbage out of eight agreed upon by the United Nations Development Program with a capacity of 8 tons, noting that the trucks will arrive during the coming period.

He also added that the UN program is to provide the municipality with nearly 200 garbage containers, and about 8 pumps to the water company in Sirte, in addition to a medical waste incinerator for the city hospital Ibn Sina.
