Minister of Justice Halima Ibrahim convened with the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Libya, Sophie Kimkhedze, on Wednesday to discuss aspects of cooperation between the two sides.
According to the ministry, the meeting addressed ways to develop ties between the Ministry of Justice and the UNDP, supporting the ministry's efforts to protect and promote human rights in the field of preparing and writing national human rights reports, building the capacity of members of the judicial police, and improving prison facilities.
In an announcement made on August 26, the UNDP mission in Libya revealed that Sophie Kimkhedze, a native of Georgia, had assumed the role of Resident Representative of the program in Libya. Her responsibilities entail spearheading comprehensive initiatives aimed at reinforcing democratic governance and the institutions governing the rule of law in Libya.
