Sudanese refugees

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) confirmed that more than 101,497 Sudanese refugees have arrived in Libya since April 2023, about 65,000 through the city of Kufra, with a rate ranging between 300-400 arrivals per day.

The UNHCR explained that this number includes 30,707 new Sudanese who were registered, which brings the total number of Sudanese registered on its lists to 50,082 refugees.

According to UNHCR, it is difficult to determine the exact number of Sudanese refugees, due to their illegal entrance, the absence of data shared by the authorities, the vast remote land borders with Chad, Egypt and Sudan, in addition to movements towards cities along the coast.
