The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) announced on Wednesday the evacuation of 119 migrants from Libya to Italy.

The initiative falls within the framework of the UNHCR's plan to facilitate the transfer of 1,400 migrants from Libya to Italy over the next three years via a designated humanitarian corridor.

The commission underscored the importance of achieving permanent solutions for migrants through a collective responsibility shared among host countries.

It renewed its call for increased responsibility-sharing among European countries regarding migrants, working alongside Libya to create safe pathways and opportunities for some of the most vulnerable refugees, as per UNHCR statement on Facebook.
