Sudanese refugees

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has announced the "improvement of the response plan to assist Sudanese refugees in Libya."

The UNHCR said in a post on the “X” platform: “Humanitarian efforts are accelerating to provide shelter, health care and food to hundreds of thousands of affected refugees, amid increasing risks to women and children.”

It further stated that “it is intensifying its efforts with civil society organizations and donors to save refugees from an unknown fate, stressing that the number has begun to increase, as about 97,000 people have sought refuge in the country since the beginning of the crisis until now.”

The Commission added that “Kufra is a major transit point for Sudanese refugees coming to Libya, and receives about 350 new arrivals from Sudan daily.”
