The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Filippo Grandi, called for the continuation of support in Libya until the migrant detention centers, where violent crimes are reported, are gradually closed.

Grandi stated, during a press conference in Italy, that there are still approximately 4,000 detainees in official centers, however, it is estimated that at least a quarter of them are migrants and refugees.

He went on to announce that he had received assurances from the Italian government regarding the resumption of humanitarian corridors for migrants through Libya and other countries
