The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said that more than 700 migrants have been returned to Libya in recent days.

The Spokeswoman for the Italian branch of the UNHCR Carlotta Sami explained in a tweet on Monday that amongst the migrants were young children, adding that all involved were individuals in need of help.

The UN official added that the matter will likely end up indiscriminately arrested, causing them to be exposed to more violations by human traffickers, stressing that Libya is not a safe haven, as she put it.
