The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), has stated that 32,000 children severe acutely malnourished in Libya, warning of the exacerbation of children's vulnerability due to climate change and water scarcity.

In its monthly newsletter, the UNICEF indicated a high rate of wasting and stunting among children under five, in contrast to a decrease in the child mortality rate.

The UN report monitored developments in social protection for Libyan children, saying that education enrollment levels remained high, pointing out that Libya is the only country in the Middle East that has a child grant.
