The Security Council is expected to renew the mandate of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), which expires on 31 October, according to the Security Council Report website.

The website added that on October 9, the Council will hold a session on the situation in Libya, where the mission’s charge d’affaires, Stephanie Koury, will deliver a briefing on the recent political, security, and humanitarian developments in the country.

According to the website, the Security Council may extend the mission’s mandate to reflect the increasingly volatile political and security contexts in Libya.
