The Officer-in-Charge of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Raisedon Zenenga, has affirmed the commitment of the United Nations to achieve a clear path to the elections as a top priority.

This came during his meeting with the mayors of the municipalities of Zuwara, Misrata, Souq Al-Juma'a, Tajoura, Surman and Zintan, stressing the need to end transitional stages and interim governments and hold elections as soon as possible.

The United Nations has announced the end of the mission of the Special Advisor to the Secretary General on Libya and ex-acting head of UNSMIL, Stephanie Williams, saying that Zenenga will step in until a new envoy and head of mission is announced.
