The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has denied news about the alleged formation of a new legislative body aimed at establishing a way forward by an unknown organization claiming to be affiliated with the United Nations.
UNSMIL confirmed in a statement on Wednesday that this body is not related to the UN or the Mission in Libya, saying that all news and announcements about UNSMIL’s work are published on the official social media channels and website.
This statement came after media reports regarding the formation of a new dialogue body that includes representatives of Libyan local parties to discuss the necessary ways to end the political stalemate in the country and move toward elections.
