The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has expressed its concern for the safety of the head of the Libyan Red Crescent Society, Ajdabiya branch, who is also a human rights activist, named Mansour Atti.

The UNSMIL called for the unconditional release of Atti, urging all relevant military and security authorities to ensure a prompt, thorough and transparent investigation into his kidnapping.

UNSMIL stressed that all cases of arrest and detention must be carried out based on legal procedures, in a manner that guarantees the rule of law.

Atti was kidnapped in Ajdabiya city on Thursday. His fate is still unknown.
