The UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame, denounced the repeated targeting of Mitiga Airport, which he said continued unabated, since the beginning of Haftar's forces attack on Tripoli, despite the United Nations calls for the protection of all civilian infrastructure.

"These attacks threaten the chances of pilgrims from western Libya to make it to the holy lands to perform Hajj," Salame said, recalling the "parties to the conflict" -as he described- with the obligation to respect the principles and norms in the conduct of war, and to take all necessary precautions to ensure the protection of civilians.
