The US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo and Tunisian Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui reiterated their support for the efforts of the UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame to find a political solution for the Libyan crisis, in accordance with the UN action plan.

The two ministers stressed on the sidelines of the third round of the strategic dialogue between Tunisia and the United States held in Washington; on the importance of working to restore stability to Libya, according to the Tunisian Foreign Ministry.

In a another statement issued Tuesday, the US reaffirmed with other foreign countries via its state department support for Salame's efforts and called for the cessation of fighting in Tripoli and to return to the political process under the United Nations umbrella.
