The US chargè d'affaires Leslie Ordeman and US Africa Aviation Command's Deputy Commander, John Lamontagne, met Wednesday in Benghazi with Khalifa Haftar to discuss security coordination, including aviation, and the importance of reunifying the Libyan military under democratically elected civilian leadership, the US embassy said in a statement. Haftar's media office also confirmed the meeting without further information.

Ordeman discussed on Tuesday in Benghazi with the House of Representatives' (HoR) Speaker Aqila Saleh the importance of building unity across divides to best serve the interests of the Libyan people, including fulfilling their longstanding demand to choose their leaders.

These visits come one week after the CIA Director's visit to Tripoli and meeting with Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, and to Benghazi, where he met with Haftar, though Haftar's media office never published news about the visit.
