The former US envoy to Libya, Jonathan Winer, has stated that controversial candidates should not be allowed to run in the upcoming elections, expecting the elections to be postponed for a limited period.

Winer added to Al-Hurra TV that the elections will take place when the international community tells all Libyan parties that it is necessary to move forward with the people's selection of their authority.

He praised the efforts of UN Adviser, Stephanie Williams to resolve the Libyan crisis, which inherited a chaotic situation after Kubis' resignation two weeks before the elections, confirming US support to complete her duties.
