The US embassy in Libya said on Twitter that ambassador Richard Norland and Russian Chargé d’Affaires in Libya, Jamshed Boltaev, met in Tunisia on Thursday to compare notes on prospects for restoring momentum to Libyan-led, UN-facilitated Presidential and Parliamentary elections in Libya.

Over the last couple of days, Norland held a number of talks on the phone to review the latest developments in Libya and the future of elections, including with the Head of Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aqila Saleh and Head of High Council of State, Khalid Al-Mishri.

The Russian Chargé d’Affaires also met on Tuesday in Tunisia with the UN Secretary General’s Advisor on Libya, Stephanie Williams, and discussed the need to keep election momentum and continue with the political process to include all Libyan parties.
