The US embassador, Richard Norland has met in Tunis, with the Algerian Foreign Minister, Ramtane Lamamra, during which he welcomed the meeting to be hosted by Algeria, which will include the Foreign Ministers of Libya's neighboring countries.

“US welcomes this initiative as part of international efforts to stabilize Libya and the region, and secure the withdrawal of foreign forces including foreign fighters and mercenaries”, the US Embassy tweeted.

During the meeting, Lamamra briefed Norland on Algeria’s plans to host this meeting in support of Libya’s elections and efforts to stop the spread of violence emanating from Libya’s south.

It is noteworthy that Algeria will host on August 30 and 31, a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Libya, Egypt, Tunisia, Sudan, Chad and Niger, while Algerian media confirmed that representatives of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the African Union will attend this meeting.
