The Deputy Chief of Mission for the US Embassy in Libya, Leslie Ordeman, has welcomed the release of several Libyans who had been detained arbitrarily months ago.

“The US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has noted that human rights are important to the United States in our bilateral relationships. No one should be arbitrarily detained in Libya, Ordeman said in a tweet.

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya also welcomed the recent release of Faisal Qarqab, the former head of the Libyan Post Telecom and Info Technology Company, Mohammad Al-Qiblawi, the head of the General Union of Libya Students, and Mansour Atti, the head of the Libyan Red Crescent Society in Ajdabiya.
