The US Embassy in Libya has welcomed the results of the Joint Military Commission (JMC) 5 + 5 meeting in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

“The United States welcomes this initiative and supports the Special Representative of the Secretary-General Abdoulaye Bathily’s calls for the withdrawal of foreign fighters and mercenaries from Libya. Their destabilizing presence undermines security and fuels regional instability”, the US embassy tweeted.

The JMC concluded its meeting in Cairo, which lasted for two days, with the liaison committees from Chad, Sudan and Niger, approving the establishment of an integrated mechanism for joint coordination and data exchange to facilitate the full withdrawal of mercenaries and foreign fighters from the country.
