The World Food Program (WFP) has stated that all regions in Libya witnessed sharp increases in prices during the month of August, starting from the western region, followed by the eastern region, and then the southern region.
The WFP added that southern Libya remains the most expensive region, affected by conflicts and military mobilization at the Ghadames and Debdab border crossings.
Prices in the east of the country are under pressure due to the increased influx of an estimated 97,000 Sudanese refugees into Kufra since April 2023, which has been exacerbated by the recent heavy rains in the region, according to the WFP.
