The Security Directorate in Zuwara reported that it had seized a workshop used for the manufacture of wooden boats for the smuggling of illegal immigrants.

The Directorate clarified on Monday, May 31, that the workshop was located west of Zuwara, on the seashore and that the security forces arrested three foreigners working at the site.

According to the Directorate, following initial investigations, those detained confessed to their participation in manufacturing boats intended for the transportation of illegal immigrants and that they had, to date, manufactured two boats, up until their arrest by the authorities.

The defendants confessed that the factory belonged to a Libyan citizen who rented the workshop site, according to the Directorate which also indicated that those arrested were detained and legal action was taken against them, with a thorough investigation still ongoing.
