The local airport in Zintan has resumed its services after completing its maintenance work, which began six months ago, Zintan Municipality has announced.

A plane belonging to the Oil Aviation Company, coming from the Hamada oil field, was the first aircraft to land at the airport on Wednesday after the development work.

The local airport will operate flights to Mitiga Airport in Tripoli, besides the Hamada, Abu Atifel, and Al-Wafa oil fields, as stated in the schedule posted on the airport's Facebook page.

Operations in the Zintan Airport came to a halt years ago because of maintenance work.

The airport was used for the first time in 2011 during the February uprising.
