11 members from the Libyan Constitution Drafting Assembly have boycotted assembly sessions in protest and decided not to recognize its outcomes.

The boycotting members explained in a press conference in Tripoli on Thursday that during the recent period they had experienced an attitude that was trying to impose regionalism as basis for drafting the constitution in addition to the insistence of some members to divide Libya into 3 regions and 3 capitals.

They confirmed that there were desperate attempts to impose regional quota away from the concept of the modern state founded on the rights of citizenship.

The members also launched a scathing attack on the president of the LCDA Ali Al-Tarhouni, accusing him of obstructing the work of the assembly.

Boycotting member Daou Al-Mansouri revealed that Al-Tarhouni used to address the international organizations without knowledge of the members, adding that they had filed a lawsuit in Al-Bayda Court of Appeal against him on charges of dual nationality as he still holds an American citizenship and duly not eligible to take over sovereign positions in Libya.
