Libya’s Red Crescent, Misrata branch, recovered last Tuesday 266 bodies from Sirte, saying most of the IS militants’ bodies were decomposed and they included some bodies of women and children.

The media office of Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos forces said the bodies unit at the Misrata Crime Combat Department, in collaboration with the Libyan Red Crescent, recovered 230 bodies of IS fighters along with other 36 bodies to make up 266 ones as a total on Tuesday.

Lately, Al-Bunyan Al-Mrsoos forces had saved more than 100 civilian women and children from the Jiza neighborhood before they advanced on it and liberated it from IS.

On Tuesday, the Misrata-led forces declared the full liberation of Jiza neighborhood, which was the last IS hideout in Sirte, after seven months of deadly clashes that caused them over 700 deaths and almost 3000 injuries, according to official medical sources.
