The Special Deterrence Forces (SDF), Saturday, managed to rescue a boy held by a gang for ransom.

12-year-old boy Emhimmed Salih, form Sirte, had been abducted for 12 days in Tripoli's Al-Nofleen neighbourhood.

The abductors blackmailed the child’s family and bargained for a ransom of LYD 1 million for his release.

The SDF intervened and set the boy free. It said that investigations are still ongoing with the abductors.

In a previous statement, the SDF announced that they would hit with an iron fist all abduction gangs and drug dealers.

Last month, The SDF conducted a special operation to free the Maltese national Noel Sciberras, held by a gang in Tripoli outskirt of Ein Zara.
