‎British ambassador Martin Longden stressed his country's support for the political process in Libya, reiterating the importance of moving forward toward organizing free and fair elections to achieve stability in the country.

This came during his meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Ramadan Abu Janah, as the two sides discussed the economic and political conditions in Libya, and stressed the need for solidarity to develop and reconstruct the southern region.

He also considered that the south has specialized institutes and universities with high-level academic competencies who can be involved in developing a strategy aimed at the stability and prosperity of the region.

Longden expressed his country's readiness for medical cooperation, regarding the transfer and localization of technology in Libya and inviting some hospitals to operate some health facilities, and enhancing cooperation as well as partnerships with the private sector in both countries.

Meanwhile, Abu Janah stressed the need to work on requesting urgent action from the relevant authorities to settle any previous debts, and to accelerate the implementation of supply contracts signed with British companies through the Public Tenders Committee and with the approval of the Administrative Control Authority. He also expressed his support for increasing imports of medicines and medical equipment from the United Kingdom to Libya.
