The Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan army, Nuri Abu Sahmain, passed in the General National Congress’s headquarters Monday a decree that orders the reformation and reorganization of the Libyan army by forming eleven brigades to be distributed on all of the military zones around Libya.

The Prime Minister, Khalifa Al-Ghweil, commented on the decree saying that the reformation of the Libyan military institution had resulted from a month-long case study conducted by Staff Generals and military advisors, who concluded that a formation of eleven brigades is needed.

He went on to say that each brigade should include eight battalions of military officers, reserve forces plus the revolutionaries willing to be involved in the army.

“We agreed on dividing Libya into five military zones including Tripoli, western, central, southern, and eastern regions." Added Al-Ghweil.
