The Administrative Control Authority approved the return of the former Minister of Defence Al-Mahdi Al- Barghathi to the government of the Presidential Council to take up his duties, after being suspended for more than a year.

In a letter addressed to Al-Bargathi, the Administrative Control Authority said that after the expiry of the legally prescribed period of suspension for investigations, the Administrative Control Authority has found no impediment for the Minister to exercise his functions, according to the legislation of the Ministry of Defence.

The Chairman of the Presidential Council issued a decision in May 2017 to stop Al-Barghathi from work for inquiries about the attack carried out by forces of the Ministry of Defence on Brak Al-Shati Airbase, which resulted in the death of a significant number of troops that were in the base at the time.
