The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Unity, Taher Al-Baour, held talks with the Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Libya, Jeremy Berndt, during which they exchanged views on developments in Libya.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the meeting had discussed the latest political developments in Libya, in addition to exchanging views on the latest developments on the local scene, and ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
Al-Baour stressed to the US Chargé d'Affaires the "support of the Government of National Unity for efforts to strengthen the political track in the country," reiterating "the importance of uniting national and international efforts to achieve Libya's aspirations in building a prosperous democratic state."
Berndt expressed the United States' continued support for achieving peace and stability in Libya, which would contribute to achieving the Libyan people's vision for a better future.
Before meeting with Al-Baour, Berndt discussed with the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense Abdul Salam Al-Zoubi and the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Adel Jumua, the activation of the work of the 5+5 Joint Military Commission, and ways of military cooperation between the two countries in addition to maintaining the ceasefire.
